Wife files wrongful death suit after husband falls, dies

It is impossible to fully compensate for the loss of a loved one. However, it may help for New Mexico residents to know that it may be possible to file a lawsuit against the responsible party if the death of a loved one was the result of professional misconduct or negligence of another individual, such as a health care professional. A woman from another state has recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against several defendants that were involved in her husband's dialysis treatment. In this legal claim, she is alleging that medical malpractice occurred and resulted in the death of her husband.

Misdiagnosis, doctor errors result in woman's premature death

Affecting hundreds of thousands of people, lung cancer is one of the most deadly diseases in New Mexico and the rest of the United States. There are many ways to diagnose lung cancer, including imaging tests and biopsies. Unfortunately, if the tests aren't performed or aren't read correctly, then these doctor errors can result in the patient going on with life without realizing the cancer is present. This drastically reduces the patient's chances of fighting the cancer. One couple found this out the hard way.

Family receives almost $30 million award for brain injuries

New Mexico residents who have found themselves in the middle of a medical malpractice lawsuit may be interested in hearing about a recent case in another state. The family filed a civil suit against multiple defendants after their baby suffered irreparable brain injuries. In this particular case, the jury issued a verdict of almost $30 million after finding that one of the doctors was negligent and veered from the standard of care.

Proven doctor errors lead to award for breast cancer victim

Although no one here in New Mexico hopes or expects that a doctor will misdiagnose them, it happens. Luckily, when doctor errors like that happen, the victim has the right to pursue monetary compensation in the form of a medical malpractice lawsuit. That's exactly what one 47-year-old woman did in another state and prevailed.
