Wife Alleges Medical Negligence After Error Led to Spouse’s Death

Finding out that a loved one has passed away in the hospital after a surgery can be devastating for New Mexico residents. However, that devastating news turns even more overwhelming when one finds out that negligence may have occurred during the surgery that led to the patient’s passing. When it is discovered that the doctors may have lied about the actual cause of death, the news may be more than one can bear.

In fact, all of the aforementioned things happened to one woman, according to her recent lawsuit. She says that her husband reportedly suffered a heart attack in March 2012. The previous day, he had undergone surgery to remove a goiter. He was in the hospital for over a week, until March 18, when he passed away.

In December 2013, the woman received her late husband’s medical records. It was at this time that she discovered that his death was not due to a heart attack. In fact, the records showed that an airway had been obstructed during the operation, which is what led to his premature demise.

If any New Mexico resident suspects that he or she or a family member has been a victim of medical negligence, it is important to preserve one’s legal rights. At the same time, it is crucial that an investigation begins into the alleged wrongdoing of the medical professional or facility. It can be tricky trying to do something like this on one’s own, so legal counsel may come in handy in bringing a formal lawsuit against the necessary party or parties. At the same time, a legal professional can fight for one’s rights and pursue full and fair compensation for the victim’s injuries or family member’s loss.
