Isela Anchondo

New Mexico Attorney

Isela Anchondo is a native New Mexican who advocates for New Mexicans. Isela’s journey began in Anthony, a small, rural city in southern New Mexico. Growing up in Anthony, Isela saw firsthand how people were being excluded from vital resources such as the legal system and adequate healthcare because they were impoverished, spoke a different language, or simply did not know what their options were. Isela carries these experiences with her every day and is proud to fight for the underdog.

While still in high school, Isela obtained college credits from Dona Ana Community College. Following high school, Isela chose to stay close to home and attended New Mexico State University. For her exceptional academic achievements, Isela was recognized as a Crimson Scholar throughout her undergraduate career. Isela received her Bachelor of Arts in Government and Bachelor of Criminal Justice from the University of New Mexico. Isela went on to pursue her law degree at the University of New Mexico School of Law.

While in law school, Isela continued to advocate for New Mexicans and in 2019 she was selected as an Arturo Jaramillo Summer Law Clerk. This opportunity allowed her to clerk for some of the top personal injury law firms in Southern New Mexico, before taking a position as an attorney after passing the New Mexico Bar. Isela is also a proud member of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association of Justice.

Isela is a native Spanish speaker, who takes pride in being able to serve Spanish-speaking clients. Isela is deeply tied to New Mexico and with her practice, and vigorous representation of each client, she hopes to bring equity in healthcare and the legal system in the often-ignored small rural Hispanic communities throughout the state.
